Paradise Grange No. 490

Grange Community Garden

Paradise Grange Community Garden, the Living Garden Project, is growing abundantly. The garden has been the catalyst for thirty new members joining the Grange. A set of guidelines has been written and approved in order to encourage gardeners who are committed to growing without pestisides and who make a commitment to keeping their garden plot kept up with weeding and watering.

Verna Myers is coordinating all the gardeners and helped to draw up the guidelines with Karen Quattlander and the rest of the garden committee. Norm Franks bought the garden soil for the boxes and the grange will reimburse him for the cost. I think Norm has been at the garden every day since it’s creation of donated materials and muscles putting in the fence and building the garden boxes. Scott Barber spent more than thirty hours weed eating and creating paths to the creek behind the grange. He turned the property into a veritable park.

Please stop by and see how beautiful the grounds and garden look. Paradise Center for Spiritual Living donated $100 to be used for garden materials. Sawmill Nursery donated all the garden plants. Another hundred dollars was donated by visitors to our booth at the Family Wellness Day on May 16th. Members donated baked goods to give away and Mary’s Crackers donated a box of crackers and cookies. A big thank you to all these wonderful supporters.
